Undressing Beauty~

Undressing Beauty~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

Undressing Beauty~

Beauty knelt in the smoke of her lovely demise

the crushed rafters of dark licorice

ink stains in the curious dimples of her knees

she struggled, with broken arms

to pull the doll house deeper into her corners

lest the fairies with sharp desires

strip her even of her backward memories

Thumbelina cross referenced herself with the paradox

of Pandora

thumbing the old redwood’s roots

around a scholarly mole, who tsk’d at her self-imposed task

but gave her the purchase of his insights to grasp

to wrap around her plum bruise of a body

to help her scale her own abbreviated aberration

to some straight level of daily function

in a sky of razor planes

The reflection adjusted the faceless mask

her arms dancing through the hair of her doppelganger

in the mirror, mirror with a scalding mercurial fluid she wove

into patterned gowns

that left netting scars in diamonds

across the screaming scales of a thousand guests

as they made their appearance

bleeding down the spiral back of a snail

with a double curtsy

Little Red bore witness

to the madness of the palace, on a hill, far

far away in UnderLand

that held a world of pain in each chrysalis

suspended in crystal animation

while inside the fractal shells

the girls metamorphosed in tiny seedling increments

from victims

into butterflies

The title was definitely what captured my attention, but then reading the poem, I realized that it wasn't the best part.
Your use of diction and imagery is amazing. I felt like I could picture every scene in my head. The emotional connection to the reader is very strong as well.
I absolutely loved this poem. Keep up the good work!

Well Slap Me Silly with a Haddock Lady, you just took me to a better place. I'd purr some, but I'm a tough guy so I don't do that kind of thing in the daylight. A wonderful spanking to all those naughty little Moon/June/Spoon jockeys. A wonderful pleasure to read and enough synapses sparking to keep me going for days

mirror mirror indeed! As the backwards reflections of imagination peer back from the underworld to the "real," your reversal is an apt reprisal to the unreality of our scholastically trite little tale! Perhaps a scholarly mole ungiving purchase would HOPE to couch in terms so aptly and deliciously, but never the parallel would reach! The dark stains of YOUR ink are at least as tasty, and the "soul licorice" melts in my mind, not in my hands! As always the treat is delectable, no single flavor can fully describe the orgy of creative de-lish you serve up. Splendid!!!!!

The second stanza is an exemplary example of how you keep the reader constantly engaged through intellect and cadence. Your neurons fire so quickly through your pen, one has to read & re-read to catch all of the layers. It is a sharp knife with a twist of hope at the end, love this!

I think it was Poe who said: 'Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words' and this poem resonates with that beauty, the word choice unfaulting creating worlds within worlds. So much pain and sadness at the centre of this and yet the opening of the chrysalis and the butterfly gives us hope. Favourite line: 'ink stains in the curious dimples of her knees'. You take the characters from the fairytales and wrap them in your underworld charm in poetry that really is spellbinding. fantastic.

So you see through those gussed up little kid tales.... Its funny what those cute things are crossed from and we know with their wild minds they probly see the darker side of disney though in a much purer way... Its puts me there and I love it through my now more aware side (so much truth)
