Poet's Vow~

Poet's Vow~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

shaping words

my lips will taste the flavor of the nouns

what do I want to feed you?

taking care with action verbs

is a poet's responsibility

in the most intimate of forums

where soul leaks ink onto paper

for the readers to swirl their fingers

and draw their own calligraphy

conclusions are a delicate business

my vow

is to never make you feel

small

or inconsequential

or despised

and should I awaken your own demons

with mine

we will face them in ink

under the canopy of letters

rehsaping futures

through the written word

my vow to you...

my vow as a poet...

to take responsibility

for every single word

to inspire and encourage

to steal colours from the sky

and splash them onto naked pages

to uphold each metaphor and

never condemn

or revel in the effluence of a bleeding pen

my vow to recreate a broken world

and mend a shattered humanity

through the prisms of your mind

in turn

pouring ink

into your palms

to make your own

my vow...

Author's Note

NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole
as poets we should recognize that the words we utilize to express ourselves and the condition of the world and the human being have extreme power~ I've forgotten a lot of bruises~ but I've never forgotten words spoken at me to harm~the scars might be invisible~but they're deeper than the physical ones~
poetry:approach with care~ =)~

Selene...you are a person of high character...I have yet to read a poem of yours that did not in some way enlighten or touch the senses of my mind and Soul...your thoughts are a commendable expression of who we should strive to be...poets with the desire to delve into the very hearts of others with a passion to involve and change this world...it is a road that involves the decisions of love and peace in mind...to share talent and creativeness and to especially be of high character and compassion...may I say that you have all these qualities...

I wouldn't have known this was a collaboration if you hadn't mentioned it. The lines flow without break or any sort of disturbance. You two must have been completely tuned into each other when writing this.

I just clicked the 'favorite' button. What a wonderful, poetic mission statement! You are writing with love and respect, not only to the reader/writer, but ultimately to your craft.
My respect for you is stratospheric. I honestly don't 'get' pieces of your work, but you have always been honest and never arrogant.
thank you so much for sharing yourself.

Truthful in its purpose... our words do open old wounds or create new ones.

You both have crafted this write in such a way that I was trapped within the delicate phrases, some took my breath.....

Given I know what brought about this very elegant rant, you have far more restraint in how you formed this I would have done. People forget or don't give a damn just how much power words have.

Just as words spoken to harm leave scars, words written with heart (and flair) also leave their mark. Sometimes just a single phrase or Image will stick with you. Sometimes a whole body of work will forever change someone. Good poets make us feel something. Great poets can alter lives. So, yes, beware what you write in anger and in spite. But be aware that the opposite is also happening. Paint the canvas with beauty, yes even dark beauty at times to light up others lives, sometimes for a moment, sometimes for a lifetime.

I echo what Lily said. This is healing, lovely girl. Thank you for washing the venom out of our eyes with this beautiful peom. And what Art Sun said, you are that and so much more.

Wisely said, words hold power. I appreciate the two of you for taking these things seriously.
