Nereids' Prayer~

Nereids' Prayer~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

Now I lay my seashell body

in a sand outline

by a child's rendition of a sand castle

slightly tilted

rainbow sprinkles in the moat

a wafer cone under the scuttle of a curious crab

I pray the lines

my soul to unfurl

not in yellow tape

but on the back of a seahorse

who happened by the coral reef of my spine

tugged my heart into the saddle of a wave

If I should sigh

before his cage

may the triton flay the membrane of my conscience

and the killer whale become

the alm

with which I am reborn from the sea

I pray the lord

not take the sea

it can eat the cities

and crush the hulls of a billion dolls

ambling

in stupefied thrall of flat screens

but leave the sea

o' lord

inside my veins

ahh take me - but don't take the sea from within - the blood and spirit - the life/soul haha - whimsical trip (or splash ha) into the inner-psyche - twists and turns like the tides and that wanderlust seahorse - "reborn from the sea" - soothing for all the wrong reasons perhaps!! nice!

I love the idea of seahorses and saddle waves, playing in the sea in your veins...too much depth to cover here...anatomical I just have to wade and see what kind of bottom line defines a ship wrecked heart
flowing rhythm
you posses with maiden voyage..good stuff

Oh, this is beautiful writing. A prayer which only a Nereid can make for us humans don't have the vitality of sea in our veins nor the roar of it in our hearts...

this world is so filled with those to busy watching the oblivion of humanity through a glass encased box of fantasy to notice the changing of the tides... I love the fact that your vision holds true to the energy that is life, raw and persistent despite indifference...
Love the webbing of the message within the culture of religion, a form of societal evolution so misdirected by it's arrogant sense of self... The irony was a blanket of knowledge born of light hidden beneath the shadows of mankind...
And then there is the oh so personal vision of just one soul longing for the journey back to the collective, back to the threshold beyond rebirth...

love this one to pieces... the layers eternal...

Take away my inanimate possessions but leave what matters, that only seen with the heart... if that were the prayer of everyone in the world what a wonderful place it would be.

I am beginning to think I am missing memos. David is rewriting the creation, and now your praying to God. I can't handle this, has anyone seen my publicist!

Great write.

crush the hulls of a billion dolls

ambling

in stupefied thrall of flat screens

I am so going to die.

The title is genius and appeals to me a lot. I think metaphors of the ocean suit your personality very well.

My favorite line was

1. and crush the hulls of a billion dolls

i always read your poems with a smile, with pleasure, but leave them with a new perspective. A very nutritious read.
