Caution:Do Not OverSaturate~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole
"

~a sigh is rarely just a sigh, ain't that so~

"

I never promised

you

a rose garden

The violets have grown wild

and the roses bend

to the voracious spirit

of the mud

coating ruby red

and poignant pinks

with rich

dark soil

I am just another little mother

with a thousand pinpoints of pain

thorns

for each stumble

the child takes

We wear them well

don't we

little mothers?

and yet

The children sometimes forget

that we have bled the same  blood

and watered our ash

with the same tears

tripped across the brambles

in the same sort of wild gardens

There is now a sign

rooted

at the entrance to my heart

where love

is unconditional

but no longer foolish

no longer pressed with guilt;

Caution:Do Not OverSaturate

I love this stanza though you are never just a mother... I lost mine four years ago but know I wouldn't be the man I am today with out her guidance and example of how to be. It is a vicious cycle how kids don't appreciate the parents till later on in life.

Yes kids do get tiring, and I know there will be times I will have to step back, and let them make their mistake because my personal experience won't be enough. I can't say it anywhere near as elegant but I felt this.

It always amazes me that a poem like this will get 280 views and only 12 reviews? Damn people, what are you holding reviews back for? I think you hit the nail on the head here Selene. Every parent has been there before at one time. You love them unconditionally, and sometimes it gets thrown back in your face, but no matter how tiresome, you love them. And one day, they do something that just blows you away!

this poem reminds me of a parent and child relationship, and the struggles
that we sometimes have...I can so relate to this being the mother of
a 13 year old...and I heard it doesn't get any better..lol

Kids have great imaginations but they never imagine that the parents have already walked their path and have discovered their discoveries and played the same games or told the same lies, it is the love that allows them to grow on thier own with guidance but enough room for them to experience life in their way but still they can't fool mom. Super Great Write. :)

Something so true. You tell the little tale and the mother's side so beautifully. It takes such a long time for kids to mature and understand the impact of their actions and words.

yes, we have these signs up all over the place...danger, danger, pits of hell, beware...when all we need is a good massage or a hand to hold or a kindly pair of eyes to look into our own...you are a heart full, even there

A wober of a discriptive write on parenthood well motherhood to be precise but being a parent myself and a grandparent I can really relate to this---- beautifully done the message you send is loud and clear.

I'd say I feel your pain...but that'd be a lie (as I don't have children). I'm probably this child to my father sometimes, though. Perhaps this is something much suited for people younger than thirty, people that tend to find it a little difficult to understand exactly where their parents are coming from (of course, there are some thirty somethings that use this lesson too). Very nicely written, to the point on enough levels.
