Trippy Cottontail~A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole Would you give up a Klondike bar For lent Or pull nails out of the wood With brand new veneers How many licks of a whip To get to the center of a broken girl? Priest with jolly rancher eyes You don’t taste like water melon, you taste like a killer You can’t sit a sinner on a kneeling board Dominus vobiscum don’t mean s**t to a surly adolescent with poppa stains Easter basket full of cherry bombs Skip to my Lou with a sectioned cross between the pearl and the night Elvis flipped into velvet Jesus Dilated girl on a bar stripping bones to Tom Waits’ scratchy jukebox tunes I remember speckled eggs I remember shackled churches and soldiers in green pea coats Tradition moved the boys through lavender scents A spray of memories on a white lapel Trippy shook her cotton tail from a pew, crawling under benches Stole the holiday away with a chocolate Jesus melting in her cherry smile With a Tom Waits look alike in a top hat In a dive at the end of the bunny trail A golden yoke between her faith and the travesty of fate © 2011 NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPoleAuthor's NoteFeatured Review
