Little Boy Blue~

Little Boy Blue~

Someday

I would like

To stop picking pieces of you

Out of my back pockets

Every time

I reach for a dime;

You were so fond of writing

Notes

In class

Slipping them down the back of my shirt

Some boys were happy with snapping bra straps

But not you

You wrote a thousand fairy tales

Between Algebra

And History

We were lucky to be at the back

Of the class

Though we were at the head of maturation

Fighters

Justice

branded by the lack of experiencing it

We made our own justice

Sister Mary wished us gone

I think that’s why

They kept us skipping grades

And here comes the shift

Little boy blue

Man on the beat

Officer down

Town riddled with bullets

In your holster they found a short story

I patched my Siouxsie and the Banshees t shirt

With your words

And wore your poetry over my heart

For decades

Someday

I would like to stop by your grave

And plant the stories

In the earth

With flowers

But all I do is kneel

And find more pieces of you

In my back pockets

This is heartbreaking. What a wonderful kind of guy .. i remember the bra snapping.. detested it .. but i would have loved a note , poem slipped down the back of my shirt.
This is a memory that is bittersweet- to go and plant the stories with the flowers... what a beautiful thought. Yes, this was felt.

You praised me once for my ability to be cinematic, yet here I sit humbled by this piece and finding pieces of you in my inspiration to write. This piece holds the reader as it breaks their heart at the same time. Your words console and understand as well as creating such vivid imagery that the reader accepts it as one of they own memories. J'adore.

Such a sad and yet reflecting poem Selene...such friends are so few in life and to lose one like this is even sadder, you have an exceptional poem here...

Oh gosh Selene, that last part actually pulled the air out of my lungs in a loud gasp...

There is something so magical about our school years, when everything is fresh and we know that we are going to live forever, except that we learn later that it doesn't turn out that way... your story brought back a flood of loving memories of school, some, I don't always wish to remember that often, because they are so special, and need to be kept on the shelf for those special occasions...

This one squeezed some of the memoirs out of my heart, that now are looking out over the rims of my eyes.

Blessings to your special friendship.

I said it on FB and I'll repeat it here.
Your heart carries the souls that touch you, Selene... Your mind writes beautiful music in words from your heart to vibrate the world eternal with those souls... so long as the world has you, luv, it has every one of the those souls in its aura.

The sentimental musings that sit on a shelf are always beautiful when dusted off for a shine. This poem is very sweet and evokes memories of the reader as well.

It was tantalizing.
You managed so brilliantly to weave those sweet memories into words and leave us by the end so amazed.

This is stunning in it's mournful beauty. Such recollection of graceful memories dancing before you while you try to focus on the smiles rather than the loss.

Oh, I love this! Simply superb penning! It tugs at memories and heart strings simultaneously. I love to go through old albums and pictures, revisiting long forgotten memories and friends from the past.
