Girl made of pink seashells

Sits on a conch

In the middle of a myth

Her roots watered by clouds that do not know

That the mud was not the sky

Or that the sea was not the air

Her body floating in the ripples of songs played

On ivory strings

Pearl studded arms twisting 

Through whispered currents

In pain, recurrent

Her back broken in an arch

Featherless wings stroking the sea

As the breeze sprinkles golden hair with ornate jewels

 

A flicker of light...

Firefly eyes open a doorway in the foam of waves

For a sailor made of mist

Who wears the thorn encrusted crown of drowning men

Between his heart

And his floating rib

His palms hooked on a line

Her stigmata bleeding mercury

And coral

A trail on the water

A soul slick

To guide his demise

As she licks cochineal lips

And attunes her pitch to hymns of the gods

To stitch tainted ears

With melodic webs spun by dying nymphs

 

 

Broken shell nails hooked and bent

Scratch eulogies in manmade rocks

Scattered with hearts ripped from naked chests

A chain of heart strings resting on moonlit neck

As she counts them, one

Two

Three hundred and more

Pressing each through shimmering scales

She, a brocade

Of sea

Of death

Another swollen heart to feed at her breasts

She presses

Impresses

 

A sailboat made of ash bends its bow

To her ascent

Another sailor takes her hand

Rise

One step

Two step

Three hundred more

Her roots in the ocean floor

Curse on her lips

Dip

Above a bouquet of water lilies

Ocean threaded tail breaking seabed bones

A metronome of lust

Splitting the water

Boats swelling deep under lost in rust

As iced tongue traces pulse along willing neck

Breathing in pheromones betrayed by wind

Her breath melting on tender flesh

Oyster eyes parting to reveal

Fiery pearls

Starlight pearls

Venus on a half shell girl

Without constraints 

Her scales unfastened

She devours him

In monster fashion

Chasing down the pain of him with sea foam and wine

Wiping tears with black rose petals

To scatter through the night...

As I said to OT..what a surreal collaboration bring your two styles together in a seamless stream of wonderous imagery, sirens, desire, myths and death..it was always going to work..but never imagined you two would merge so....poetically divine!!

Brilliant. The seam twixt the two is most transparent. The images vividly sing of aquavacious (I know, not a word, but it fits!) mythology. Love it!

First off, the minds in this are a perfect fit, and one cannot tell where one begins and the other ends, they are equal and true to the sense for surrealism in this piece. I love the image of the sea, and the rule over its hunger. A devouring force. You paint a fine picture of this nymph of the sea, and lead us through her lustful hunger for men.
