Girl Off The Loom~Girl Born Of Clay

Girl Off The Loom~Girl Born Of Clay

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

I would hang my skin on a line

if the world would take a moment to listen to the sound

of creation on the wind

as it caresses the pleats of a young woman hanging by a thread

perhaps even bend out of ideals into possibilities

to rescue a torn dove

from the woodsman’s axe ready to chop the braided cord

from the apple tree

because hope is like a bridge between my shell

and the pulp of a leaf between the fingertips of a boy

shall he pluck it and make an arrow

or plant it between the ribs of a broken sun

as moon opens a blue eye

and the craters turn to ash tears

the bowl

in the palm of a weeping willow somewhere on the horizon

in gold reflection

I am just another painter in a blue robe

on a ledge

my balance between a seed

and an old clock with broken arms stuck on the arch of twelve diamonds

a red cross bone building my shoulders for a velvet kiss

for Dali’s fingertips drawing lips in ochre reds

down my spine

as I fold my everything into the keys of a piano floating

on a silver lake

where the Lady beckons from underneath the pebbles in the shallows

with a sword made of a dragon’s scales

Myth is sometimes as simple

as a girl hanging wash on a line

dreaming through the fabric

becoming pleats

under a sky made of words

where the book builds the world

Belief is a panoramic scene

with images flowing in ribbons of paint

between the fingers of a sculptor

and the girl brought forth from warm clay

ever...ever so beautiful Selene I am moved by the second to last stanza "...Sometimes a myth is as simple as a girl hanging wash on a line...." truly remarkable this gift you possess and I am always standing in awe of your genius ability to take words and use them in a way that is definately "outside the box" your ability to take a word and peel it...to break it open and eat of it as if it were a delicious fruit..to turn it upside down and inside out and pair them with other words in such clever and intensely beautiful descriptive patterns and plots is fascinating... and I am always reverent of your ability to take a normal cliche' and bust it wide open to scoop out the real meat...the real gem... the extraordinary pearl hidden in the ordinary mash -DannyLynne

Truly remarkable... you create scenes of melancholy that decline sympathy, but simply invite the reader to follow the myth and believe in the impossible. Always a pleasure to be taken for that ride with you...

the master musician knows his instrument as intimately as the most sensual lover, and his craft far better than his own mind, and from this platform he evokes a panoply of sounds that transcend far beyond the triflings of other players into a realm of transcendence most heavenly, for only the gods and goddesses dwell there. The beauty of you Selene is not just that you know your craft as a masterful dancer knows his body, or the musician his instrument, but you intuit the minds of your readers and the music is evoked from within THEM! Like the magician who pulls the scarf that went missing during the trick from the pocket of the onlooker who already awed by the display beyond his immediate grasp is shocked and then tickled delightfully as he is brought into and becomes a part of this rare and amazing event. Thank you so for the privilege of attending and the reaffirmation that childlike wonder was not only a treat of childhood! rikki

What gods do you dine with? You know what I get from this? Peace; at least, that was the feeling that was inspired. I like your surreality. It never fails to please the eye and the mind. Beautiful work, Selene.

I couldn't say it better myself, "your ability to take a word and peel it...to break it open and eat of it as if it were a delicious fruit..to turn it upside down and inside out and pair them with other words in such clever and intensely beautiful descriptive patterns and plots is fascinating..." My thanks to Danny Lynne for the quote, and my gratitude to you for your soul work. I loved the reference to Dali and the floating piano, from "soft self portrait", shot by Dali on the island of Figueres where he was born. A most artful dream you crafted here, one that all of us can taste and touch.

You use words to bring out the extraordinary using the simple. You weave a mysterious and delightful world using words.

A dream like sequence It makes sense in that context like a dream we might have that later we made sense of beautiful work

Your work is always an array of layers placed together with art and creative spirit. Your words often stop me and ask me to think past what is known or realized and to allow dormant thoughts to rise to consciousness. This one makes me imagine a world that lacks spiritual awakening for some reason. Excellent is you pen upon paper.
