Poppies~

Poppies~

Out of fields of poppies she emerged

on the slip of a moment gently curled

into a song

she began to dance

this flare of a girl

dissolved in trance

She dipped a curtsy  to the flowers

chanting rivers by the hours

to swell across the open planes

as the phoenix rose in emerald flames

she bent to kiss each  sting of bee

hollowed out into the breeze

swept the panic and the loss

up into her golden jar

Do you know her, do you care

this girl who pulls through every day

this goddess in the summer heat

who takes your bridges in the east

fast as fast can break a lord

they bleed her marrow through a sword

and nail her aspirations down

against a billboard for the crowd

She will wear your ferns and stems

with dignity when all is said

done above a broken print of Sistine

pristine

moments missed

a painting inside paintings

on a silver willow tree

as reality turns inside out and a man falls to his knee

before the soft winds and the glaze

as her paw swipes gently at the vase

that swells with poppies as she shies

away from every dark divide

Prisms bump her skin forlorn

the fireflies drink up her scorn

as she swirls the wine around and round

in a glass of ash, and frowns

pulling closer to the edge

as mankind stumbled past her hedge

and briar roses turned to dust

a prince proclaims his self disgust

but she just laughs and pulls him closer

winds notes from him like a composer

before she plunges  burden's blaze

through his hips with her disdain

and whispers low and whispers long

like a curl of smoke wound round his wrongs

his silhouette beyond repair

girl eats him down like crème éclairs

and her scales unfold bright gold and red

she stretches him on crimson threads

pulls him through her cellular space

into  fields of poppies, gentle sway

and they fall so swift and fall so hard

into a union stained and charred

but they fall together wrong or right

a couple branded on the plight

of a people speckled, deeply bent

and so it goes, and so it ends

their ascension

our lament

I threw my head back with the pure rapture this piece brings, the breathtaking, dramatic words.. the raw sensuality is nothing less than intoxicating.

I kind of like the idea of being eaten down like a creme eclair.
