Origins In Coral~

Origins In Coral~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

It began underwater

in a silver pool

my gills

my scales

molting

until my body complemented

the yellow dress

sewn from his idyllic orthodoxy

while he

covered in prayers

opened his wings under the sound of rain

the wailing of the trains

hitting a frenzy

scattering notes

roman numerals

random patterns

impressing themselves into the side of old buildings

while I

floating in his onyx iris

in my yellow dress

caught fire

my flames, monarch butterflies

pouring out of the ink of my stains

in vines the length of my spine

until my body curved the sky

above the molten city

and he

covered in prayers

entered my patterns

drew himself a temple in my outline

centered his piece in the topography of my puzzle

it began underwater

crawled across the mud

climbed metal spires

spread its wings

but the gills dragged it down

back down underwater

god thing with prayers

sewn into his skin

not quite girl in yellow dress

eating pomegranates

under the sea

my fingers dreaming the underbelly of a whale

haloed in reverie

god thing's mouth dreaming the back of my long neck

where, trance in a dark stone

at the base of my elongated skull

gives him nectar as balm

he, discarding prayers from his skin

I, smiling in my yellow coral dress

I never come away from your writing without being awestruck or without learning a bit about the use of our language...this was brilliant. The whole thing was mythological, fantastic in scope and creepy as hell. The last stanzas were so good...fanfreakingtastic.

:) I have to agree with corey - your poems just grab you and pull you along - the "my fingers dreaming the underbelly of a whale" - who thinks of these things!! that's the appeal of your poetry to me - always so unique... no cliches (I doubt finger whale dreaming could be haha)! nice!!

I am vastly enjoying the theme I've discovered in your body of writing of gods and mythology, and how you ignore the grandiose possibilities this theme could entice. You instead create very visceral vivid and veritable sensations...
One thing that strikes me especially in this poem is the quantity of fragments. "god thing with prayers" They can be odd (positively) and attention grabbing in the right places. I fear there may be so many that this quality of theirs is watered down.

remarkable flow for such wholly unique lines that seem to jump from the ethereal to lines like: 'my yellow dress'
excellent poetry

this is the beginning...the middle...and the end. I fell into this completely and got lost in that flowing yellow coral dress...somehow...I'm not fighting very hard to get out
