Red~

Red~

Crimson apples

filled with helium

I curve crescent spine

blending into white sheets

spread on a rock by a stream

playing strings on fire

branching underground

inverted tree

giving face

through a bed of violets

two red beryl tulips

a wound in my side

for his heavy fingerprints

pull of weeds

a  garland of doves in the mud

his shoes black

shiny

on a bench

he comes to

with an ache in his side

a bottle of wine pouring petals in a circular dance

creating a horizon of ochre

silver clouds

a city

where arms reach between buildings

closing distances

on a screen of pale hues

bleeding themselves into crisp ruby pleats

up the thighs of the girl

walking with red apples

filled with helium

I love the flow in this, I still haven't wrapped my hands around the overall meaning, but it's still early here and I've only read twice, so theres still time! The different hues of red are masterfully done, and I love your use of red beryl (the rarest of gemstones). Need coffee...

Hello Selene,

I will have to agree, it is always a joyous morning when you wake and a poem by Selene waits to be read. It's part of a healthy breakfast. Have I ever told you red is by far my most favorite color...It's just a wonderful color...

Regards,

Matthew

Love me some mornings in the gentle arms of Selene's views of life. We all remember the "first" time, and now a beautiful portrait of it. Painted by the colorful brush of her poetic mind. Wow.
