Mirror~Mirror~OnTheScreen~

Mirror~Mirror~OnTheScreen~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

Once upon a time I had green eyes like deep seas

and I walked the world in ruby

with a personality
that was my own spin on this dream

the world fed me with some wine

and I was just a girl

with gumdrop dances through the light
and everything I dared to taste

to shape  my blazing soul

was torn from me in pieces

by the surreal afterglow

of images on screens

emblazoned on the walls

of a thousand billboards glued with lies

all vying for my fall

And my curves they came in  with the seasons

and I should have danced among the pines

but I shattered every imperfection

inside a mirror not of my design

"And am I perfect, am I lovely, o looking glass on fire

am I not so beautiful starving

and inspired

to desecrate this body mother earth,

she shaped so sweet

am I not the perfect w***e inside this virgin so discreet."

My Cinderella walked those slippers

until her feet were drenched in blood

every piece of glass and soul

reflected from above

as I curved around the pole

so sinuous, alive

and ate the gentlemen with whiskey

hating them inside

until I burned with all the gems laid out on my altar

diving deep into the masks I wore like mermaids into water

thrilling to the facets of the jewels indented in my spine

until I crumbled to the floor on a sweet starvation high

I colored Marilyn through my hair

and ate Angelina's pout

I succumbed to all the shine

until I broke inside my ground

I purred through Benjamins and drinks of golden liquor highs

escalating on a song of a perfect china doll

And I believed there for a while that this was all the joy

to swallow tragedy off screens as if playing with a toy

these grown up games around a maypole of thorns and bitter berries

caught up in the Escalades and chocolate covered cherries

off my belly on the slab of this strange, mad world that screams

but colors in the pain with cannibalistic dreams

And in the end they made of me a cult of women on the edge

a golden, sculpted siren shaped by the lies of men

and my anger turned to rage so that my dish of lies lay empty

and I bit off the screen the biggest piece to become ruby and so trendy

I unwound the thickest sword and ate it's candy hilt

wound around me golden braids to scale the tower that I built

and dazzle from the heights above

with my elemental quilt

of women grooves throughout my shimmies

and songs to please the world

as my core was shattered on the edge

and my fists curled in, uncurled

Mirror~mirror on the screen tell me am I fine

are my lips now full enough for the men to think divine

are my belly dance and groovies coy enough for your design

to splatter across every page with the sweetest ads for wine

tell me am I thin enough now that my bones make me

am I a fine example of unreality

to charm the young ones deeper into this candy cult you blazed

into my irises to burn and shape each bend of day

until the moment I become the princess and the w***e

to delight the world outside the glass with my bright decor

So tell me daddy of the world am I your perfect little girl

are the hollows of my hips sweet enough to burn

tell me I'm the one, the only one

the one whose butchered with the best

into a glossy ad

destroyed

like all the rest

:o.....
whoah, this one...it burns the retinas and rips the heart...the lot of a woman...beaten and shaped by media idiot boxes and masogenistic mags...womens true beauty shines through the plastic skin...and those that shine beyond the masses painted perfection...rip through the muddled veil like a supernova...

Deep within the beauty of your written talent, lies the truth, always beautiful even in it's ugliness sometime. What a raw world we live in, that can coax the purest souls into the greedy patriachal illusions of acceptability...

You take every tarnish and polish it golden, luv~

Wow! Shcoked from the life in the eyes of others, left to ponder the effect of life lived in the high risen ego of the world! The longing to hear that she is ok, that she needs people to see the 'real' her is AWESOME!
This is excellent Selene, always a pleasure to absorb your work love:)

hmmm ...interesting vanilla world look at abused and pandered femininity...not mine ..but a good look at what the slick world of sold innocense is like..great write...But real Daddy Doms see just the opposite....read some of my stuff on Baby Girls and Daddys? excellent way to deal with the subject though..

I just enjoyed the lavish spread of images, one after another, like a random slide-show that pulls up picture after picture from the world's expectations of a candy girl... I think you could still eat the gentlemen with whiskey... lol

We never realize the end...at the beginning...when we are dazzled by the neon and the pulsing sound of intoxicating music that drowns out the voice of our reason and lures us by convincing us this is your dream...assaulting your senses with lies...that you are a woman..you are desired...this is your destiny...as they use you up and gorge themselves on "fresh meat" and swallow all your goodness...

As you look back now and see the insane ride that ended...you innocence lost before its time...your life a pell-mell ride through self discovery...
If we had to live our lives again...not knowing the end of choices...would we choose the same? I think we would...do it exactly the same...

Those colored lights that blinded you...the life that consumed you...have given you a treasure of experience of which you so richly write...colors adulterated by all you've seen, heard and felt...the shallowness and deceitful way of the world... They saw a wicked little nymph...little did they know you were a diamond in the rough...we are blessed to be able to see your facets gleam... How could we ever write with such dark genius...such earth-tinged color when we have been sheltered in a marshmallow world...

Yours is an incredible journey...this poem chronicles your trail from wide-eyed wonder to the realization that life is never what it promises to be...you had the courage to discover who and what you are and the grace to accept who you see in the mirror...

Life took away you innocence but it did not get the best of you...we get to enjoy it every time you share another piece of your mind for us to taste...and for me...I've never tasted anything like it...

Reminds me of the classic age of the cinema screen, when all there was to do was get your face onto a Hollywood screen and melt hearts, make the girls wish they were you, idols, heroines etc............vivid as always your descriptions, weaving a tale of destruction to gain fame............fabulous as only you can do.

I read this poem twice to be sure that I took it all in. I liked your description of the "fine example of unreality" that our culture seems to demand.
