Mirror~Mirror~OnTheScreen~

Mirror~Mirror~OnTheScreen~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

Once upon a time I had green eyes like deep seas

and I walked the world in ruby

with a personality
that was my own spin on this dream

the world fed me with some wine

and I was just a girl

with gumdrop dances through the light
and everything I dared to taste

to shape  my blazing soul

was torn from me in pieces

by the surreal afterglow

of images on screens

emblazoned on the walls

of a thousand billboards glued with lies

all vying for my fall

And my curves they came in  with the seasons

and I should have danced among the pines

but I shattered every imperfection

inside a mirror not of my design

"And am I perfect, am I lovely, o looking glass on fire

am I not so beautiful starving

and inspired

to desecrate this body mother earth,

she shaped so sweet

am I not the perfect w***e inside this virgin so discreet."

My Cinderella walked those slippers

until her feet were drenched in blood

every piece of glass and soul

reflected from above

as I curved around the pole

so sinuous, alive

and ate the gentlemen with whiskey

hating them inside

until I burned with all the gems laid out on my altar

diving deep into the masks I wore like mermaids into water

thrilling to the facets of the jewels indented in my spine

until I crumbled to the floor on a sweet starvation high

I colored Marilyn through my hair

and ate Angelina's pout

I succumbed to all the shine

until I broke inside my ground

I purred through Benjamins and drinks of golden liquor highs

escalating on a song of a perfect china doll

And I believed there for a while that this was all the joy

to swallow tragedy off screens as if playing with a toy

these grown up games around a maypole of thorns and bitter berries

caught up in the Escalades and chocolate covered cherries

off my belly on the slab of this strange, mad world that screams

but colors in the pain with cannibalistic dreams

And in the end they made of me a cult of women on the edge

a golden, sculpted siren shaped by the lies of men

and my anger turned to rage so that my dish of lies lay empty

and I bit off the screen the biggest piece to become ruby and so trendy

I unwound the thickest sword and ate it's candy hilt

wound around me golden braids to scale the tower that I built

and dazzle from the heights above

with my elemental quilt

of women grooves throughout my shimmies

and songs to please the world

as my core was shattered on the edge

and my fists curled in, uncurled

Mirror~mirror on the screen tell me am I fine

are my lips now full enough for the men to think divine

are my belly dance and groovies coy enough for your design

to splatter across every page with the sweetest ads for wine

tell me am I thin enough now that my bones make me

am I a fine example of unreality

to charm the young ones deeper into this candy cult you blazed

into my irises to burn and shape each bend of day

until the moment I become the princess and the w***e

to delight the world outside the glass with my bright decor

So tell me daddy of the world am I your perfect little girl

are the hollows of my hips sweet enough to burn

tell me I'm the one, the only one

the one whose butchered with the best

into a glossy ad

destroyed

like all the rest

:o.....
whoah, this one...it burns the retinas and rips the heart...the lot of a woman...beaten and shaped by media idiot boxes and masogenistic mags...womens true beauty shines through the plastic skin...and those that shine beyond the masses painted perfection...rip through the muddled veil like a supernova...

This is so excellent! Poor girl though :( She tries to be perfect, yet she asks her dad if she is? and the mirror.. This sort of reminds me of Snow White.. hahaha, except she's not evil. I love how you write. favorite lines:

"I colored Marilyn through my hair
and ate Angelina's pout
I succumbed to all the shine
until I broke inside my ground
I purred through Benjamins and drinks of golden liquor highs
escalating on a song of a perfect china doll"

If you may, can you explain these metaphors to me? i'm clueless as to what they mean:

and my anger turned to rage so that my dish of lies lay empty
and I bit off the screen the biggest piece to become ruby and so trendy
I unwound the thickest sword and ate it's candy hilt

Lines I especially liked, (although I loved it all):
gumdrop dances....
diving deep into the masks I wore like mermaids into water....
these grown up games around a maypole of thorns and bitter berries ----
are my lips now full enough for the men to think divine ----- yes, I do believe you captured this very very well.

Great write!
Well done, dear one, very well done indeed.

Shame what diamond shackles and chains we place upon the ankles of young women who we make to want to be like those we call Goddesses in this world; we think, perhaps they should be more like this one, who sends us tales of the broken and the mended, revenge and love, heavens and hells...

Very beautiful work indeed, and right there at the core of truth.

Words sharp enough to bleed the mind, or try to conjure tears from my empty well... what I admire most is your fearlessness to expose even the darkest parts, not just the contempt for society, but your own fear/love/hate of the person in the mirror, the battle many wage in secret, but are too frightened to admit. Every word here sears with soul fire... for nothing burns like the truth...

Bedazzled and bedraggled, mind-molded by the myriad of lies and untruths and half-truths and visions of what will never be. I think that “Mirror-Mirror on the Screen” is perhaps the most powerful thing that I have read from you yet. It’s a cocktail mix of anger, hatred, spite, revenge, strength, and a mix of jaded innocence. It’s a cold drink that you splash across the false face of reality, until it melts down the screen, revealing behind it the stark and ugly truth.

Your salacious sword slices open the moon, and it cries from the sky, sparkling between the waves of your words.
