Magik Carpet Ride~

Magik Carpet Ride~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

There was an angel in a pleat of her memory like glass

where an unborn child wove songs out of wheat and barley grass

and paradise curled outward from inward moments lost

and the seraph bent to mouth words of opal and of frost

She was gifted with the spinning of a vermillion blossom's loom

and seashells from the sea where the dolphins dig their tombs

from a fairy tale caught spinning crystal spider eyes

where people are like birds but still they cannot fly

She stalked mirages on the edge of parchments etched with bliss

and though she hungered for so much she passed it all up with a hiss

and opened up a crystal ball with her lips upon his brow

to shake up every night with blessing with which to bind him to his vow

Her little hands pulled ribbons through the porcelain and jade

with which he'd made the doll for her hoping she would play

but her earth beats crushed the tiny head with volatile ire

and she tossed it with his gift of pearls into the dragon's mouth of fire

~When you stroke your velvet antlers up against my curves and hollows

I surrender every edge of me, the pain, the bruising and the sorrow

when you give me tears instead of blood I don't know what to do

for I'm ravenous and bent and get off on different hues~

She walked the children past the smoke into shapes no gods would dare

of beauteous sounds in halls of glass where beasts lay golden and engraved

she disassembled and she scattered all the cells that made them whole

and drank them down like crimson wine on a sigh in afterglow

She created with her mouth and sculpted with her hands

her hips like sinuous fortunes in a love line crossing lands

they crawled out of the laughter, feeding on her ache

every one of them a mad one winged in fallen hate

She disassembled and she scattered little rivulets of cells

and licked them from her golden mouth, a flick of organelles

she bathed in every afterlife and in the fountain of the youth

filling up her hollow core with wine and bread and fruit

She gave up sex only for angels and kissed their brow with lies

her beauty so distracting as the world beneath them sighed

moving to the sound of wings rushing up her mounds

spilling through her diamond pores until mankind paused, unwound

~When I dress you up in songs and you see the lion on my psalm

will you understand then what I am and wish that you'd been wrong

will you cry against my shoulders as I tear through all of man

whispering against your lips that like all of them, you're damned~

And so the story ended and the blood curtain came down

the kitty kat she curtsied and the jeweled man grinned and bowed

and hand in hand they turned from this audience of pain

and rode off on a carpet of gold and red brocade

rode off into a sunset the color of a god

who forgot his little tin men and his women bound in lies

and the moral of this story is immoral as the life

that he and she and you waste

on this magik carpet ride

Every time I read this one, I am breathless. I am in awe, such depth of emotion assembled on a bed of hues both brightened and darkened with the rawest edges of humanity and the idealism of Gods... It leaves an ache that screams nothing seems more like a dream than a 'damned' reality...

There is no one like you in this lifetime, the caliber of your talent must journey to yesterdays or perhaps tomorrows for a review by your peers... I think you are eternal, stuck here in limbo, the extraordinary hidden among the ordinary...

I know you will think, 'Nah, I'm just like everybody else flawed in humanity...' and that's just another reason why you are so special... a writer... a woman... a soul.

Great poem,
There was an angel in a pleat of her memory like glass
What a fantastical opening line it has huge insight into the poem as it breeds a whole new life to words on the page, they no longer are words of a poem but words of a story, a story that has gone through you imagination and you have witnissed it all happening and found the perfect decriptions for every momments making every single thing about the angel so perfect and that on its own deserves a clap,
ya got my vote from line one. Rating 100 :)
Ted - out.

To understand the fate of humankind is rare, but to recognize it is quite extraordinary.

Amazingly alluring, a script from
the heavens written on a parchment
of glittery gold. A sonnet of quenching
Sonata's drenched in honey.

aweinspiring? not enough...if i were to take my uncle's simple way of putting something to something grande...he would say...in his thick maori tongue "hard as, luv, that was feckin bee yoo tee full"
