Deadly RoseA Poem by catwomanFor a contestI was pricked Once by a rose And it called itself love. It drew me close, It took me far, Far from the chaos of life I held it with care, Not minding the pain Each thorn did create. For I was lost Lost in a world so surreal Promising much so wonderful I felt I would forever be In the new world I so cherished Oblivious to pain. I felt new things I found new meaning I found something so sublime. But what started so beautiful Started to wilt And I could do nothing but watch I could do nothing But see my world Lose the light. To feel my heart Bleeding through the wounds That it did create. Reality struck with much clarity The rose which so aroused me Had forever perished. It left me forever in the dark Having nothing left but a void I so couldn't fill. Yes, I was pricked Once by a deadly rose And it was called love. Deadly love
