ProposalA Poem by catwomanMy heart flies to the day, As i stood as he knelt, Staring into his eyes so gay, Watching them turn cloudy, As i shook my head in dissent. Love, I have never shown any, Even to him who deserved it Better than many. I recall his soothing words, The first to sound on the darkest of days, I remember his touch, As if it were just yesterday, That his hand held me With love and care, unrivalled. And yet i chose to deny, That i loved him, To leave him there in misery, And rush towards my dreams, I so felt, must be chased in solitude, Tied to none by ceremonies. And yet i know i was never more bound To anyone or anything, As i was to him from that day on. My dreams I followed, But where do I stand but at his coffin, Filled with nothing but regrets and remorse That i should have taken the hand So graciously offered, And hold it close to my heart, Where it truly belonged.
