Goodbye

Goodbye

A Poem by Cara

It's hard to recall
All the things we used to do
To see all the memories
When it was me and you
But now i find myself crying
It's hard to not know what to do
Trying to hold on, but i'm not lying
I don't know how to say goodbye
And i bet you didn't know too

It's hard when your loved ones are dying
Your just watching.  there is nothing you can do
It's hard to keep on smiling
When i'm afraid of losing you
And you try your best to keep it hidden
But all the time it's dark around you
And i see you really trying
Everytime my heart breaks for you
Cause i don't know how to say goodbye
And i bet you don't know too

Sometimes you wish they were still trying
When your loved ones are no longer with you
And it's hard to keep on smiling
You know you gotta move on. there's nothing left to do
But i know we were fantastic
And where ever i go i'll always be with you
And if you knew how to say goodbye
I bet you would have taught me too..

Goodbye is unarguably one of the hardest words in the English language ... I've only had to say it once to a former friend, and it was one of the saddest moments of my life. This piece reminded me of that moment. I really like how the piece ends with "I bet you would have taught me too" ... it really shows the helplessness of the situation as well as the sorrow and despair that goes with it. I also enjoyed the repeated rhymes throughout and how they convey an eerie feeling.

Strong flow of thoughts allowed the reader to feel the sadness and the pain of a goodbye. I liked the honest tone leading logical ending. Thank you Cara for sharing the excellent poetry.
