Brain Service

Brain Service

A Poem by Pól

Every single moving part of a machine

needs to be oiled

and released from daily stress,

turmoil,

toil

from time to time

or it will rust

or break

or simply fall apart

and that machine

no longer will function

as it should.

The human brain

is just such a machine

although wondrous of its kind,

yes

but no different

from the most basic.

Yet humankind has no idea

how to lubricate the mind

save for the administration

of alcohol and drugs

how to smoothe the wheels

oil the cogs,

and

as a result

we fail to achieve the dizzy heights

our true unique potential

and instead

 surrender to distress

give up the ghost

dsyfunction embrace

and languish in the gutter

of banal ineptitude

until,

 time wasted

opportunities ignored

greatness rejected

we perish.

Thank you, A
The title caught my attention. So when my mind gets cloudy...it just needs some W-D 40?

Metaphorically yes, i suppose. If u read my latest poem it might explain.
This is a precise yet well-thought out piece. Though it's insightful; and something someone may not be used to when confronted with. Good job.

a really useful and smart analogy..... this motivates! a wake up call, to bring awareness.... to all that we can be... i love the details in this... "administration of alcohol and drugs" and "give up the ghost"... so much truth, and wisdom! you certainly inspire a lot of goodness!
