A whispered silence

A whispered silence

A Poem by Pól

A whispered silence

invades that space

that empty place

that rests between us

stinging our eyes

polluting our throats.

and then you ask

"what ails you so

and holds you down so deep"

bereft of emotion

drowning in the shimmer

of a frozen lake.

I turn my gaze

to your tender face

as Helen, who lauched those ships

and my innermost being

cries out!

and thoughts rush my mind

memories of good times

and what might have been

had I vanquished

the gushing waves.

That was deep, sir. Loved the refrence to Helen. (Of Troy, I presume?)

Well done
Very creative description of that void that sometimes seperates two lovers. The reference to Helen is especially nice.
