Shackles

Shackles

A Poem by Pól

My oh my!

I hear you sigh.

Worries etched

across your face.

Dear oh dear!

the future's clear.

Imprisoned in a cage

of gold.

For goodness sake!

a love so fake.

Tethered,

by bonds of steel.

Oh my lord!

lets cut the chord

sever the umbilical link

the chain so tight

and by our will

throw off the shackles

and set us free.

Tanks so much Neville, you are always so encouraging
I like the playful rhythm within this piece. For me, the poem had an almost-humourous/play (musical) like sense in it. I still liked it nevertheless.

Thank you
I have missed several of your new poems! Again this is such a pleasure to read. It takes the reader on a well paced journey and the use of exclamation gives it an energy, an urgency.
