I watched you fall, I tried to follow

I watched you hit the water below

I watched you sink

Sink down under swallowing too much too cope

I dived in after you; I tried to reach the depths

You’ve dropped too

I swam as far as I could

But you’re falling too fast for me

 

 

I got you by the hand I tried to get you out

I tried so hard I nearly died myself

It hurts so much to see you down here

I got you so close but you stopped moving

I tried to hold but my lungs were bursting

I pulled you close and kissed you goodbye

 

 

It was like a car crash it all happened so fast

One moment we were laughing

The next you were falling fast

I was here the whole time

Why didn’t you ask me for help?

Why didn’t you hold me if you knew you were slipping
