swim for the shoreA Poem by shane
Swim for the shore
In your thought mysteries unravel
This is why I keep myself alone
Fear rejection more than life itself
If I never try
How can I be let down?
You don’t know the word that travel through my head
You don’t know what I think of myself
Wash away crimson stains
Wash away in my sorrow
I dreamed that I would be like you some day
Strong tall and proud
Who said that I ever wanted to change?
When did it ever matter that I was let down
Oh a distant dream my blank mind filled with the rubble of it all
Oh I scream at the silence and watch it fall around me again
I never said I had no regrets if I could change I would
Oh my dreams drown beside me
But I swim for the shore
I found words that made it better
If only for a little while
I wrote these words to hide away from you
If only in denial
I trap you between my fingers
I never wanted to let go
A distant dream I couldn’t hold to
I release my grip and learned to smile
I dreamed that I would be like you some day
Strong tall and proud
Who said that I ever wanted to change?
When did it ever matter that I was let down
Oh a distant dream my blank mind filled with the rubble of it all
Oh I scream at the silence and watch it fall around me again
I never said I had no regrets if I could change I would
Oh my dreams drown beside me
But I swim for the shore
Oh swim for the shore
I won't drown alone anymore
Oh swim for the shore
A new light on the dawn
A smile
