Two Friends

Two Friends

A Poem by Sebastian

Two Friends

Bitter winds flew into my face like razor blade projectiles
They sometimes blew me onto a stare of grey
So I had to go back and creep into my shroud of heroin syringes
And cold and numb from the common social cancer

You arrived home from the hospital blankly
On the way you glanced at me with an awkward fascination
So, every afternoon we spoke, but it was your midnight
But then you took a knife and made your hand its sheath

I waited by our common tree for a bible’s length of time
Remembering every word with flower corpses lying in my hand
Watching season by season pass and things becoming clearer
The sun rose again when I saw you walk by

I shouted your name and you stopped and turned around
Your appearance was so familiar except the grimace on your hand
And without expression you stared without making a sound
With both were older and I didn’t look the same

But after all the time spent separated, and bad events occurred

The faster we re-grew fond, and the less vicious life raced forward
