Angel Dust

Angel Dust

A Poem by Nina
"

Within my heart, the only beauty I posessed.

"

I was an angel once

Floating above the wheat fields

Under a glittering sky

Drinking from a fantastical pink ocean

Devouring blossoms

Orange, Cherry, Vanilla

Drifting into the vastness of space

An inexplicable iridescent orb

A star if nothing else

++++++++++++++++++++++++

I'm a human now, being crushed by gravity

Depressed, sinking, sagging

Always looking upwards

That old iridescence, trapped in a "heart"

Wriggling against invisible barriers called "society"

The flowers leave a poisonous taste

The bland Ocean is too cold, salty

Space would crush me to nothingness

++++++++++++++++++++++

Let me be reborn

See what I can become next

Anything but human!

Let me be a tree, beautiful

Stretching against a pale vanilla violet sky

Etched with stars and graceful birds

Swaying, peacefully years and years

Let me be a fish

So that I may swim in cool, silent darkness

Gliding

Flying

Falling

Anything but human!

Chained.

The poem is outstanding. Being a human being ain't so great int this crazy world. I like the story. Each set of lines create a new story. Last words were my favorite. It would be difficult to decide what to be in a reincarnation. Ain't many safe places from man's hunger. A excellent poem.

Oooh, this is interesting! Intriguing title, by the way. I am detecting a double-meaning in this. While reading it I caught on to the idea of someone whose spirit was bodiless and roaming about between the planes of existence until it got sucked into a body to be born, and it was longing to come out. But then... all of a sudden, with the title "Angel Dust" and the fact that it refers to the drug, suddenly I feel like I was reading a poem of a point of view from a drug-addict. Even if that's not what you intended, it gave the poem a whole new flavor to me. I like it very much, thanks for sharing it!
