The Mighty King (has fallen)

The Mighty King (has fallen)

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

a dying Oak

"

Tree befallen, once the mightiest of kings

Now moss crept and covered green

Bow  yourself downward passing on thy crown to age

Stay a kiss upon the glory ground  and be at rest facing sun on knotted knee

Ashen Oak, oh "Guardian "  a gift you were; a wonder

Ageless wisdom elder now time's own casualty

May you gently molder within hearts at peace

Slipping silently into winter's glove and drifting sleep

Sacrificial timber you have earned  centuries slumber

Into decay, another's hand of sanctuary

Eternal one  you shall live, on and on...

Within a kingdom somewhere place of nature's spirit dream

Thanks Pryde. Loving you visit and life's insights.
Michael, a great tribute you created for this guardian of the forests...such grand and gorgeous beasts they are. I love this. Thank you. You captured the romantic nature of these monstrous lifeforms slowly dying and their transformation for moss and forest litter perfectly. Life is a cycle. When they fall to the ground, it begins. Thank you again for sharing this poetic treatise.

Believe it or not this was actually shorter when I first wrote. Thank you for checking out my work. .. read more
This was an amazing and shocking rendition of a nature vision. I absolutely loved the way you described the tree as a king and led us down the path of it's ending reign. The way you described the love of the "kingdom" and how this "king" shall never be forgotten and always be cherished wa absolutely brilliant. I have never read such a spiritual, yet fantasy based piece of a befallen tree. The way you spoke of it's spirit living on, forever eternal was inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
