Ghosts of Love BegoneA Poem by Michael G. SmithMemories of past loves
Ghosts of love
Between past and present Haunt me more than aught Wears this heart out in secret Memories ne'er mere thoughts So neatly tucked away But moments, still living Chained to my heart as slaves And I continue to live With one foot in A separate world The other upon the stage of id "But the heart must go on" So said Out of limbo and from the rain It must trust newer love again Give freely to another to ever increase its gain So ghosts of love begone Take the walk into mists of age You may leave your smile upon my soul But, its over. Please, just forget my name!
