Kiss The Frog

Kiss The Frog

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

We dream but are unwilling to make our dreams come true

"

Everybody wants a fairy tale

A happy ending to their day

A fantasy life, they sit and dream about

Until the frog comes along

Dragging reality into doubt

With truths of “one must actually make a change”

And at this risk desire begins to sour

As the prince is the one who continues his suffer

I’m watching again and again as he turns…

In disgust at ugliness in fear and selfishness and hops away

Awe...I feel sorry for this frog. As I read you, I kept wishing for a happy ending. Such is real life I suppose. We keep wishing and wanting and talking, but nothing can transpire without walking the walk I guess.

You've exposed a weakness of many...not all. I didn't get much from it though maybe it needs more images, more feeling, its just even tho yeah I've seen this happen many times I don't feel close to it. I'm saying this cause I know that you can create great images and moods. :)

Ah, but when the right princess finds him... Isn't that all it takes? For each one of us to lose our warts in the eyes of the one who loves us... A clever pondering here, Mike!

Yes, it's all about taking that risk into love blindly.
Quite a realistic take on fairytales I would say. But it is a fact who cares for truth these days. Nobody has time or patience for it.

True, in this world today fiction holds more weight than fact.
I like the metaphor, Michael. The frog is a metaphor for most of us. We all need a little training and polishing up. The prince is the fantasy we are all waiting for...a get rich quick scheme or an easy ride into the future. But the real future is a lot of hard work and long hours. Great write, my friend! :)

It is a pretty sad commentary on our society that everyone wants happiness handed to them on a silver platter. However, there are REAL people in the world who will take the time to get to know the frog (maybe not kiss him right away!), invest time in him, and see the potential he has. There is beauty where we choose to see it.
