And Still Love Hurts

And Still Love Hurts

A Poem by Michael G. Smith

I stare off...

Past the night

Stir the universe...

With thoughts sublime

Take back that...

Which I've cursed

And still...

Love hurts

As am I. Such interaction can be inspiring.
Opening three lines pull the reader in. stare off past the night/Stir the universe/With eyes and mind. Wonderful relationship in second half with god. immense range in a small space.

Small technical point--the first mention is "a god" but second mention is capitalized as "He". Do you want to make first mention simply "God"?

Thanks Rita, doesn't always come down to love?
I stare off past the night
Stir the universe
With eyes and mind
Take back which curse
Undo metronomic rhymes

Hope and love spring eternal.

This is a beautiful and stirring write. I really enjoyed the last couple lines especially. Oh, how true to say that it could be worse. Hold on tight to God! (:
