The Looking Glass

The Looking Glass

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

....

"

I look for myself

Perhaps a reflection in the mirror

But, until then

I'll make do

With the person who's standing

Directly in front of me

Lol. Thanks for the smiles today. :)
I like it, I can relate to this situation. The reflection gives us strength to fight for what we wish to change, and it's spiritually moving. We go against ourselves in the process to reach a different state which holds a better you in place.

Thanks Mark.
Very sharp-witted write. I liked the directness of expressions. A clear cut poem written into the wise words.

I agree, love who we are at the moment but try to better ourselves for the future.
It's very deep, but conveyed in a very simple way. That is what I admire most about it. No one knows us better than ourselves...and yet...very often, even we don't know ourselves fully. There are always limits to push, layers to uncover, forgotten corners to explore. This is one of those writes that makes the reader truly turn inwards and think deeply. Well done!

Excatly precise my friend. This reflection separates us from the animals.

Mirror mirror on the wall who do we see? Me, myself or I? Behind door number one, two or three.
I loved this one mike and just as Rita says, I wish there was a mirror that shows deep inside....

That would make life quite easier wouldn't it?
Powerful. I've done that, look at myself in the mirror. It startles me sometimes if I am present when I look not just putting on make up before I run out the door, but really look. There is a moment of acceptance. Thank you for making me reflect on this and the emotion it evokes. Lovely poem.
