Weeping Willow Wise

Weeping Willow Wise

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

reminiscing from carved initials in a tree

"

Weeping willow wise cries for thee and thine

The tears more they be than thy disguise

I come here, tracing back the now flat hardened scars

Pay homage; remembrance

Amid thy smooth skin as bark

The years are stuck as...

Amber, golden of another life
Also pieces of heart

Which have most true held

Like the righteous hold the light

Word by word

A finger runs like pulsing blood

Over each and every letter
Images of me and my girl, "Mike 4 Ever Luvs Jennifer"

Tinges of smile sunlight felt

The youthful love which fades

Now, beneath seasons and inscription
Patches wounds; passions etched...

Some parts of us rest to laid

Dedications left upon a Weeping Willow

Our lives so far away become

Both living separate in other worlds; parallel

All lead back to our special place

Within that of tale, once upon a time in woodland meadow

On a tree which stands...

Statue still within this very field

Under guard protects our love

Wisdom of our own watchful, weeping willow

Thank you for your kind words.
"Word by word a finger over each letter
With tinges of smile as I feel
The puppy love that fades within inscription
Passions etched upon a Weeping Willow."

I couldn't construct better lines than this. You've penned another lovely poem, Mike. I couldn't help smiling over this one. I actually have etched names on a bark. Way back. Thanks for bringing back mem'ries ;)

I try... I try... lol
Here in the city, it is initials or a heart in fresh concrete that sets... the permanent tattoos on our environment that remind us of a love past... and perhaps present... I love the images this conjures, Mike.

Kids will find anywhere to etch their love. If you lift up the ceiling tile in the art room of my hi.. read more
How apropos they're carved in a weeping willow, haven't we all done so? Enjoyed this one Mike, you put your mark on this one quite nicely.
