The End of My UniverseA Poem by Michael G. SmithNo more poetic inspiration. The ends of verse Likened to the thirst of ideas Deprived of oxygen they drown
In the ends of verse Words no longer tend To form or touch parch lips Nor electrify wet blackened pens Hollow once quick quips
The flaming spirit Has been withdrawn Sparking thoughts to life Skipping heartbeats simply beyond rhyme
Merely yearning is not enough Quintessential is the need for acting when dreams awake and realities sleep And eyes can be open ever wide
To cloak a universe in starless Wipe away the canvas sky And more in moonless Let slow motion within the nights
Oh, my Lord am I not a vessel A portion of thy essence Then, why withdraw my writes
I am at the end... Of my own universe A river damned, a river cursed One which once flowed freely Through a fallacious man and mind
