Nevermore "The People"A Poem by Michael G. SmithThe uniformed voterPlease, if only you would remove all or part of oxidative heart "without pill" Turn back the one blind eye to this deprecating world And allow the climb of mind up and over impossible wills Escaping safety lulls and routines in life's daily grind guild Then you shall witness up close, fall of empire such as Constantine's Byzantine Hear the crumble for yourself under greed's political juggernaut machine And Rome's demise evermore proxy revelant, as the speck of night starlight shining Where its birthing sun like history's ghost now not breathing nor burning And Americans whom now in question merely whisper the words, "home of the free?" afraid and on cusp of Jenga nation teetering When myriad men join the devil's playground in all its glory corruption So, who can tell me "how long is it before our elected officials... No longer consider themselves part of "We The People" And when we can't think too highly of ourselves If we continue watching fabricated news spewed out from agencies such as BBC, Aljazeera and CNN © 2013 Michael G.
