Slow Slipping Tear

Slow Slipping Tear

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

That first tear that drops

"

Slow slipping tear

Poised to break

Somewhere beyond abyss

Off tis raw edge cheek

If thy death toll must ring

May I ask one last thing

Look upon the soul within

Before thy final leap

Cool, that's what I was trying for, thanks.
Off ‘tis raw of cheek

I love this line for the humanity and naturalism it adds to what would have otherwise been a romantic write. The last stanza is wonderful too. Great poem.

It's one of the few that come spilling out without much thought and with little change.
This piece has an almost Shakespearean feel to it, Mike - That first tear says it all, and leads to many others...

Thank you, when I began writing poetry I did most of it in early English because I am very inspired .. read more
I love the words used and the rhymes! This reminds me of ancient poetry. I haven't been able to read something of this sort for quite along time. Thanks, Mike. :x
