Bound By Divinity

Bound By Divinity

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

Reflections of life without love

"

A myriad verse about love
And this is another one
To be written more
When forever is never enough

For in intimate moments
The mind wonders as it compares
Those things which are
Like myself without you, sometimes unsure

Then, I hold you near
And imagine
If, flowers could
A bee without

Or a seashore would
Devoid of gull
Or crashing waves about

A dawn in mourning
When clouds of grayer loom
Deprived of sun

Or even cityscapes
Upon the night
Deep within the blackouts
In hinder sight, of absent moons

What if rainbows
In transparency
Where disappearing
Becoming sights unseen

And waterfalls falling
Plunging into silence
If thunder claimed its independence
Quelled the fire of lightning

Upon this realization
I’m captured
In a tangle of overwhelming
Tendencies

When your warmth
And beating heart
Back to you it brings
And in love, they seize

A peace
Of knowing
For this life at least
You and I shall be

As one
Within our sacred oath
Of man and wife
Held together
Evermore each day
By divinity

Plays off the relationships of nature and disconnects them. Very creative with a nice build up toward the end with divinity.

This is the essence of "What God has brought together..." I like the style you have chosen here; the short lines slow the reader down, allowing your words to ink in. Very nicely penned, Mike!

Thanks, I've learned how important the sanctioned union of a holy marriage is. It is a three way rel.. read more
This is an ennobling, fulfilling read. The purity of your love shines through at the beginning and the end. And in between, the stanzas are laced with beautiful imagery. It adds grace and grandeur to the poem and impresses upon the reader the nature of the void that a loved one's absence leaves.
A technical point to consider, perhaps: I had a bit of difficulty navigating through some of the lines owing to the rather atypical construction. But it takes away very little from the overall impact of the poem.
Well penned!

Thanks Augustus. Do have any suggestions for me about how it might navigate better?
