Moth To Flame

Moth To Flame

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

Adulters with no shame

"

Through the fullness

Of moonlit nights
Succumbs a moth

To every light
With powder keg wings

Beats white satin
Frolics in serenade

Attempts temptations all too often

Further desperations wade

An opportunity which knocks upon my  door
"What brings thee here to this place...

In the dead of night my dear"
"Perhaps, it might be ...

In hopes of finding facades in love?"

"Did you really think it's your place...

To replace the shining dove?

"Or, ideas of romance in wing torn dance...

That you crave, you need, you want?"
But, she merely answers

In soft fluttery sighs
What thoughts behind her lie

Like the devil in sultry smiling eyes
What I see are broken windows

As a moth encircles prize

Seeking out forbidden love

To become more as spider in entangle
My reply a light put to blackout

And to never let thee in
Lest, I partake of lust

Beneath your moon glow skin
Thus, then I would be to wander lost

In a consequence of haze and sin

Out into the cold moonlit night

From door to door and like thee...

I would be a moth forever lost

Living from flame to flame

Omg my heart sank when I saw this because I'm vacationing in the woods at the moment and this is a poem I jotted down quickly but I have a different take on it! I guess great minds think a like? :)
You're a beautiful writer for sure my friend. I'm a bit slow getting around reading because I'm away but I'll make my way through to more of yours.

Lol. I have small kids so the tent is an adventure.
Completely beats my own "Moth and Fire". Hahaha. Splendid poem in rich details. :)

Apples and oranges Blue.
Seeking out forbidden love
To become more as spider in entangle

You write deeply of the parallels of an affair - it's wrong, but there's something so compelling - possible even affection - the soft glow of the flame - to - flame... that burns just the same. Well done, Mike!

Here you have a real man who passes on free candy.
I don't think I've ever read the art of cheating written so eloquently, love the third stanza.

Beneath your moon glow skin
Thus, then I would be to wander lost
In a consequence of haze

That haze sums it all up, very nicely pen'd Mike, a bit of a Shakespearean flair amidst these true confessions.
