Tears of dews drop glistening Breaks the days of dawn Caterpillars shedding shells cocoon Seedlings awaken up with yawn
The little fairies quaintly appear Dancing their dances, all the day long But, where do the butterflies dance to When the sun hides her head... And the days are shamelessly gone
They fill up my gardens Frolic from tip of Tulip to end of the Rose Next on Sunflower silently speaking
Upon the Daffodil the flutter flies flown Their precious secrets keeping From sunrise until the sunsets dose
A parade in, floats Viceroy to the Monarch whom all try to befriend Royaly regal and gingerly black Passing the hours while waltzing cross flowers Yet, where does each of them go as processions end
Dainty, the Painted lady curtseys Among the swan Swallowtails between the weed Admirals tiptoeing across wilds green blade But, each shall soon hide hide away Flying rainbows of season’s beginning to fade
And my gardens once magical now bare The little fairies all have but disappeared Taking the lead on the whisper of wisps
Of a newly fresh winter’s air
Following the dawns of morning autumn The frigid becoming wjth her angels of snow Where the butterflies journey off to
Other summers, a place, a land far, far away Please, tell me! where, oh where did the butterflies go
Skillful well-crafted descriptions. ("Viceroy to the Monarch whom he tries to pretend/
Royaly regal and gingerly black") What's interesting here is you've opened with a tone of reverence move to a tone of playful and then to a tone of melancholy and it all flows together seemlessly. Great read.
PS (this is the second great butterfly poem I've read this week and until this week I couldn't remember reading any).

The personification and imagery in this poem are outstanding. I read it twice to really drink in all the images. Butterflies are very special to me and I have often wondered what happens to them in the colder climes when the winter starts. There is a dreamy sort of feeling to your words. A pleasure to read. lydi**

Thanks, now I will send you dance of the damselfly.
There are so many highly quotable lines in this lovely poem that I hate to have to choose only a few, but this verse is especially beautiful:
Dainty, the Painted lady curtseys
Among the swallowtails that swan through the weed
As Admirals tiptoe traverse the blades
But, each shall soon hide hide away
The flying rainbows of season’s beginning to fade
Wow...this was beautifully penned...I love the way butterflies prance in their operatic gowns...thats where they go...to the opera haa...loved it M.G...Rose
o that was so so so lovely to read:)
butterflies, being one of my favorite creatures, and this was an entire beautifully poem skilfully crafted on them:)
i completely enjoyed everything in this
i wish i could meet these really wonderful butterflies, and then i'll definitely let them know your deep love towards them, and they'll be then back to your garden, this time to make it even more beautiful as you stated in your poem in their presence:)

One of the butterflies decided to stay with me. She's my avatar. :) Haha. Anyway, you're a flexible writer! All these time I've been reading your poems about wars, soldiers... Now you show up with a butterfly scene? Yet you do it as excellently as you write the others. Keep writing. ;)

This is such a lovely poem; I hate to tell you that the butterflies end up pinned to a collector's shadow box...
Never attempting to speak even one little peep
Keeping their precious secrets
From sunrise until the sundown
These lines made me smile - those ethereal, mysterious creatures...
