All alone, so cold
Drafts blowing, arrogantly throwing Icy flakes, the freezing wind Lifting up the fallen leaves Whistling through unkempt hair Steaming the breath in front Raising goose bumps all over the body; Blue lips silently praying, Hands rubbing together, for warmth Limbs contracted inside to heat up The body huddled, head bowed Against the cold - the solitary light Not enough, never against The rising chill, the creeping shadows, Cold fear that freezes the bones And runs down the spine - The body turns to stone, A solitary statute stationed Frozen on the bench, waiting All alone, so cold. © 2015 Marium Usman |
