Chapter 6A Chapter by Sean H.Chapter 6 Brock decided he had no way of knowing the way out so he went through the door on the left. Inside, there was another hallway that seemed to stretch on for a while, doors to the left and right. After walking with Abby for a while they came to a four way intersection of hallways. Brock looked down to Abby. “Well… watcha think? Which way you wanna go?” he asked her. Abby thought about it for a moment. “Mmmmm… that way!” she said, pointing to the left. Brock, again, had no way of knowing where to go so took the path Abby chose. This hallway looked the same as all the others they’d been in. As they were walking, there was a streak of blood on the wall. Brock noticed it made an arrow. The arrow pointed the way they were going. “Abby! You see this? I think maybe you picked the right way!” Abby didn’t reply. Brock spun around looking for the girl. She wasn’t in sight. “Abby?” A shrill scream echoed down the hallway, as if responding to his call. Brock began to run towards the scream when he felt a sharp pain in his back. “Aggh! What… the hell?” Brock fell to the ground, his body seeming to shut down. His eyes felt heavy and he struggled to stay conscious. He couldn’t fight it any longer. As he drifted from consciousness he heard a deep voice. “Is he out? Is that…”

“He should be…” “Make sure… down.” “Keep them…” Voices seemed to fade in and out. Brock’s eyes felt heavy. He opened them momentarily, but they fell back shut. There was a distant, steady, monotonous beeping. Brock tried to open his eyes again, this time more of a success. He was looking into a light, but everything else was blurry. “He’s waking up… wearing off.” Finally Brock’s eyes came into focus. He was laying on something, though he couldn’t turn his head to see what. With great effort, he pushed his head to one side, then the other, taking in the sight of the room. It was an operating room. Metal trays and tables were scattered around where he was laying. He tried to get up but his body wouldn’t respond. Abby! He didn’t see her in the room. There were two men; one to each side of him. On his left was a tall man in a doctor’s uniform. With the light shining in Brock’s face, he couldn’t make out the man’s face. To his other side, another man stood, also rather tall, but not quite as high as the other. He was equipped with many weapons, from knives to guns. Again, Brock could not make out the face. Both of the men just stood there observing Brock as if he was some sort of lab rat. At seeing Brock’s movement, the doctor said “Yes, he’s awake,” to the heavily armed man. The armed man just grunted. The doctor bent over in front of Brock so they could see eye to eye. “Ahh, we’ve been waiting for you to wake up for quite some time now.” His breath reeked like something had crawled in his mouth and died. Brock spat in the doctor’s face. “Who the hell are you? Where’s the girl?” he questioned. The doctor jumped back and wiped the spit from his face. “You’re a daring one given your current situation!” “I asked where the girl is!” Brock snarled trying to intimidate the doctor. The doctor just chuckled, not fazed by Brock’s aggression. “Ahh, yes. The girl. We’ve taken care of her, haven’t we, Taylor?” The armed man, apparently named Taylor only laughed. Guy doesn’t say much… The doctor chuckled again. “She’s being held down the hall. We’ll simply wipe her memory of all this and then she’ll be free to go. We wouldn’t harm her. But you… we’re still deciding on that one. We might just kill you, especially after your show of disrespect. Brock wanted to haul off and punch the man, but he still couldn’t move. “Why are you trying to cover all this up? What’s the point of any of this?” “That isn’t for you to know,” the doctor replied sharply. He turned to Taylor. “Take care of him. I’m tired of his questions and disrespect.” The man lifted Brock" who still couldn’t move, and was somewhat groggy" from the surface he was laying on and threw him over his shoulder. Taylor carried Brock through hallway after hallway for what seemed like forever. He would never be able to find his way back to the doctor. © 2012 Sean H.Author's Note
