You can never....

Touch me like you use to

Give tender kisses like i liked

Hold me in those strong protective arms

Cook those wonderful meals

Make me smile for hours on end

take me by the hand and walk down the street with me

Stand at the door and hand me flowers

Wake up next to me and watch me sleep 

You can never.....

Tell me how much you love me

You can't make my heart feel better

You can wipe away my tears that fall for you

You can never.....

Love me 

Hate me

Smile at me

Hold me

Call me

You can never...... because you never were

Wow, that poem is very touching and heart felt and I enjoyed every minute of reading it. The last sentence "You can never...... because you never were" took the cake. At the beginning, I thought something happened to your lover that handicapped him, so he would never be the same, but turns out his love for you was the only thing handicapped. Great poem, loved it, loved it, loved it. Keep it up.

All the things loosely listed of the can'ts that show emotiona nd raw feeling of heart then the ONE that can be done is wipe away tears, like placating an animal who just got hit.
And to make the statement that the figure never existed brings a certain sadness. Is this a person who left? Or the model and archetype of what is wanted and never recieved...
