I couldn't do it

I couldn't do it

A Poem by Misty Blue Eyes

I HAD TO DO IT!!!
YES, i was selfish
I had to do it though
i hope you understand
They said to not blame myself
It haunts me, the way you suffered
Laying there on that hospital bed that night
I saw the pain you were in
It was not time for you to go..
Not in my eyes

I wanted to keep you alive
I wanted to tell you that it was going to be okay
you could get stronger
you could over come this
I held your hand as it got harder and harder to breath
YES i was selfish
I couldn't do it
Couldn't let you go that night

I will forever be haunted by that night
something i could have saved you from
you wanted to go
you begged me
you could hardly breath....

It was your time to go
but i held you back
forever i am so sorry

you were always strong
You could do this
get rid of the illness
or was it the lack of life you wanted to live?
were you giving up?
You couldn't give up

It was my fault you stayed on this earth a little more
It was all my fault and im so sorry
i should have let you go....
you would have been better off
I hope the angels love you

From the heart, and that's what matters. Great piece, and I'm sure if this is true, they forgive you. :)

Reminded me of Euthanasia and the legalities of it and what not. Well this one's a tough call. Well if Death is imminent and certain and holding it back, causes just a bit more pain it seems its better to let go. But you never know. Life thrives on hope and its possible , every little tiny chance of living is possibly worth in favoring life over death.
More on the poem's lines, it is a deep one. The agony, the pain of being unable to let someone go is portrayed perfectly. And the regret. For delaying the inevitable. For aggravating the pain. Really GOOD one !! Great work....

It is very difficult to let someone go. leave us wishing to done different things. To say a few more words. A very sad poem. Each of us will learn this pain often in a life. A excellent poem.

Wow, girl. Sad yes, but it speaks of so much more...regret, remorse and enlightenment. Acknowledgment that begging the dying to stay around is a selfish want, that most often is only seen, if seen, in hindsight. Prolonging agony...a great introspective piece.

Good job!
