eyes of 9/11

eyes of 9/11

A Poem by Misty Blue Eyes

In school i was that fateful day
Gym class and it was all the buzz
"did you hear? did you hear?"
9am in gym class i heard

The Twin Towers Fell!
gasps and tears, heart broken, lives lost
Tv's turned on in all the classrooms
Eyes teary and silence falls

i get to a pay phone and call my grandmother
asking if she is ok.
Why? i have no clue we live in Denver...
maybe it was the fact that we were apart that day

The world stopped!
people stood frozen in time,
the president alerted
What? How? Why?

Soon to be answered
Not by facts
Not by the president that night
No! it was not even a month later we saw trains
Trains by high ways with our tanks on them
Camo trucks, and battle gear

Semi trucks, lined roadways with parts of tanks and helicopters
We were going to war
A war!
Bills passed and laws made.

A war that turned into a lie of why we were there
it was not for weapons
it was because we acted on impulse
not brains or thinking it through

yes we had to go to war
but this war has turned into something much much MORE!
Lives have been lost, lives have been rebuilt
new nations have come to be

people have new ways of living
New ways of building
cleaner water
things a third world  doesn't have
But in time they will be as strong as us...

The war should have ended long ago...but we are still helping other to fight for THEIR freedom
Something THEY never had...

Your emotions and inner feelings are yours to keep and no one should have the right to clamp your heart shut. I remember that day as well, felt more like an out-of-body experience, didn't really believe it was happening in my world... at first. But most would be a fool to believe the situation could not have been handled better. And one would have to blind not to see that this situation has raised more questions than provided solutions or given answers. I adore your honesty.

I have a hard time imagining this from across the world in a country which has had peace for over 200 years... well written.

I was a Soldier for 15 years. I lost two good family friends in Iraq. I pray we find common sense. The war have lost it reason. Sad part of war is the people pay for the hate and anger of others. How many innocence (woman and children) have died in the way of war. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. Freedom is very costly. Leave us who live with sadness and questions. A powerful poem. The war is not over. USA Soldiers are standing tall in many dangerous places. I pray for their safe return of all Soldiers.

I remember that fateful day well. A horrid milestone in mankind's history that changed the bad to worse.
