Lined Up

Lined Up

A Poem by Misty Blue Eyes

Lined in a row on the coffee table
Some full, some half gone
Some are all gone
She moans and groans
laying on the couch unable to move
She slurs and stumbles her words

throwing the bottles around
The little girl and boy stand there
hiding behind a corner
having to watch again as their mother
can't take care of them

She takes another drink
and another
by noon shes done...
Lays limp on the couch, eyes closed
Out the door they go, to play alone
torn dirty stained clothes......

So sad, yet holds a lot of truth to the matter. I remember watching my own mother drink her life away. It was heart breaking.

Great poem, terrible story. Sad fact of reality though, wonderfully illustrated.

So sad but true seems alcohol is worse to quit than heroin

Great take on alcoholism and what effect it could have on your children. This is something all parents should look into. Like your range in poems..

This is so sad. I'm an alcoholic and I go to AA, and I listen to these mothers, all such beautiful people, wallowing in shame and agony for what they've done. And I am friends with their sons and daughters, alcoholics too. They forgive so willingly. But to think of it all at they very beginning just breaks my heart. Clearly this evokes a lot of emotion in me, so I'd say you did your job in that department. I do recommend a touch more of rhyme and rhythm just to keep things fluid, but otherwise, I love it.
