Cracked Logic

Cracked Logic

A Poem by Sean Lawless

the fact of the matter is that fact does not matter,
it just makes you think that you thought
and the money we spend , only depends on how much we depend on the lust for material things
the past is the past, and we shall never get it back,
so learn lessons from the things we have done
the future is far to distant to see, so it leaves us only one place to be
which brings us to present which is a present for us to cherish and hold
for this moment is gone in an instant and can surely never last
for the future becomes present and present becomes past

Times an illusion to ease the confusion and tell us where we ought to be
they say its true that what you do makes you who you are
but isn't it true you do what you do depending on who you are
But who you should be, and what you could be all hangs on who you want to be
but unlike the bee, we have a choice to be anything we would like to be
but like the bee most choose to be a drone for the colony
but the choice to be escapes you and me for if you are you always will be
it is not a choice, no matter how you voice the fact you wish to be extinct
but the fact of the matter is that fact does not matter it just makes you think that you thought.

Oh, Sean, how dearly I love this piece of writing. Is it on purpose that the colors you chose are black and yellow like the bee you mention? If intentional, then a very nice choice.

The first line of both stanzas has such a wonderful flow, and this could easily be a song. It's the kind of thing that can so easily get stuck in one's head.

The only problem I saw is a little spelling error, "The future is far to distant to see" -- should be too distant. Pet peeve :)
