Love Pain

This is my first Radio Dialogue, this is also my first script writing assessment for uni, also my first attempt at writing something that is not dark or horror

Scene 1

Mike is 22 years old and shares a flat in uni halls with Billy who is 19, Mike has been having some issues with a girl (Emily) and he is thinking about leaving university because of this and other things but mostly because of Emily and Billy is trying to talk him out of it.

 

The scene starts of in the kitchen and MIKE is thinking and listening to music.

FX

 

BILLY: Hi MIKE, what’s up?

 

MIKE:  Just been a bad couple of days and weeks dude

 

BILLY: Why what’s going on?

 

MIKE: Just uni life, my course and Emily

 

Billy: What about Emily? Fancy a cup of tea?

 

MIKE: Yes please and we can talk about this over a nice cup of tea

 

BILLY: Sounds like a plan dude!

 

FX sounds of kettle boiling

 

MIKE: Just getting harder to see her and talk to her, and things are awkward between us now, just seems I see her all the time.

 

BILLY: I see, I bet she feels awkward around you as well, I bet she does not know what to say as well, try not to worry about it and get you down.

 

Mike: But you don’t understand that’s all I can think about, every time I see her I just want to cry 

 

BILLY: Yeah I see what you mean, I will go and make the tea

 

MIKE: ok

 

BILLY walks towards the kettle and makes the tea

 

FX     Hot water being poured into mugs, followed by milk being poured  

 

MIKE:  I just can’t think or focus on my work, my work is failing my assignments and course work because I can’t stop thinking about her.

 

BILLY: I now this is going to sound harsh but I think you have to forget about her dude

The two drink they cups of tea

 

MIKE: I like her so much dude

 

BILLY: I know but the fact is that you did, and I don’t think she wants to be friends anymore dude, sorry

 

MIKE: I just think the best thing to do is to leave uni

 

BILLY: Why? What would that do?

 

MIKE: It would help

BILLY: Don’t be silly you can’t leave university over a girl that sounds silly and crazy, besides you have worked hard to get her.

 

MIKE: But it just makes me upset and it hurts when I see her and because of her I also hate being in the same university as her and living in the same building

 

BILLY: It would solve one problem, you would not have to live in the same building as her anymore, but you would be throwing away a great chance of  getting a better job, meeting new people, making new friends and think of how much money you have spent, and you want to throw all that away over a girl.

 

MIKE: I do love uni life and I have met some great people and made great friends, just I always feel down and upset when I see her, she has this power all me, which I know sounds weird and crazy because we were never a couple or anything but she does.

 

BILLY: Don’t let her get to you, just focus on your work and finishing university and getting that perfect job, just remember why you here, and just have a good time and you will soon forget about her

 

MIKE: You don’t understand how she makes me feel man, she is amazing, great, funny and pretty

 

BILLY:  She is not worth all this, don’t throw your life away over a girl, because you will feel even more silly and crazy, don’t quit university,

 

 BILLY Continued:  because you told everyone that you like it and you have some good friends

 

MIKE: I do love uni life but I can’t stand see her, if I could go through university without seeing her that would be great but I cant

 

BILLY: This is all crazy and silly talk, all this over a girl who you have only known for a few months? If you leave university now you will regret it

 

MIKE: Yes true I have only known Emily for a couple months but she is driving me crazy, I have feelings for her, leaving university is the only option for me

 

BILLY: Is not the only option man you just think it is right now, it will get better and you always have friends around you to cheer you up and to talk to and help you out with issues and problems

 

MIKE: Thanks dude but I can’t see any other way, so I think it’s for the best if I leave

 

BILLY: Mike don’t leave, you will be making a bad choice and after a couple of days/ weeks u will regret it and you will want to come back and that point it will be too late

 

MIKE: You are possible right but correct me if I am wrong but I thought you was meant to enjoy and have fun at university not feel upset and hate it because for the past few weeks/ months I have hated being here

 

 

BILLY: Yes you are meant to have a good time and enjoy university life and the social side but you do have a good time here, I have see you and you have told me that you love it here,

 

MIKE: Yes you are right, I love it here, but still

BILLY: I am right, I just think you should go to sleep and you will feel better tomorrow and not want to leave

MIKE: Ok, night man and thanks for listening to me
