Of Fire

Of Fire

A Poem by Sean
"

I wrote this poem for a friend's birthday.

"

Of Fire

It leaps,
It dances,
It sings,

In the darkness,
Does it burst forth bright,
In the light does it lose it's right.

It grows,
It gives,
It takes,

In the cold,
Does one find it welcome,
In warmth a blight.

It is you,
It is me,
It is them,

In the end,
Do the flames flicker,
In the end,
Within the embers,

It dies.

Author's Note

Sean
It is in death, that we derive the hope of living. It is in eternal life, that we find true death. Morbid thoughts for such a joyous day, wouldn’t you agree? But, it is in this seemingly depressing thought, that I found inspiration for my poem.

Anybody else sees a woman dancing in the flames?

The format, if anything, looks like flames licking at the page. Was it purposed? I wonder. It looks nice.

I like it how you gave a timeline and life to the fire and pointed out the times where it matters more and less if we need it.
