Destined Stroll

Destined Stroll

A Poem by Geist

Where's that road I used to travel down?
The road that I knew so well
I walked it endlessly, for thousands of miles
Never resting, not even for a moment
That road I knew
It haunted me

That road has since become a path
Something quite new and beautiful
Quiet and peaceful
miniscule yet larger than anything else
It soothes me deep down inside
The air here is much clearer, crisper

And as I travel down this new path
I shall never forget that old road of mine
The one that somehow brought me to you
If it wasn't for that road I dreaded
I would have missed something so wondrous
The love I now have for my forever angel

This makes me think of how I've gone off the path of writing and found new paths of life to walk in its wake. Perhaps I am returning to the old path... I especially like 'Miniscule yet larger than anything else'

firstly, what an amazing picture you used for this. where is it and what's it of?

"somehting quite new and beautiful" feels clumsy. perhaps a small change to make it more serene. i think its jsut the word "quite" - it feels sharp and unecessary. but it may just be me.

i like the sentiment of the final stanza, but i think the ending seems to be the start of a new poem, as opposed to the end of this one. using "forever angel" is an image which is just put in at the end, and not something developed throughout the poem. the poem is concerned with this new road, this new path, and how even though you are moving on, you wont forget the old one that "led me to you" - i think that's enough to end the poem on as it creates that sense and places the person as someone special, and unforgettable. i thinkforever angel is something that could be a poem in itself, and i feel that it almost renders the rest of the poem tobe irrelevant, or the other way around.

but that's it really. otherwise, a very nice piece.
