Beautiful Illusions

Beautiful Illusions

A Poem by Geist

Sifting through a sandbox of misplaced emotion

I find you sitting there lonely again

The sand darker than yesterday, blackened with tears

You gaze straight ahead seemingly unaware

The saddest sight sight for these eyes to see

The lonliest girl, broken

I want to reach out, to touch your cheek

To ease your incurable pain

Desperately I try, to no avail

You are in fact too far away for me to touch

The image of you I see is only a mirage of self-delusion

I retract my hand and I realize then

I am the only one inside this sandbox of misplaced emotion

So sad that one can get so lost in their self to not be loved when someone reaches for them.

I see a man who wants to love a woman that has closed herself off from the world, either through her actions or her guilt.

Wonderful write!
