Poor Lover

Poor Lover

A Poem by Pitta S Dev

When love demanded something

I did not fulfill as I cannot afford

But love thought I did not yield

I tried to convey but her ears deaf

I thought she can understand

But stubborn is her mind numb

I pleaded with a kiss

But she wiped it with a hiss

Yes, I know. It’s the time to renew

The love and its vows

I guessed love is the price for love

And the gifts and cakes are complimentary

Ah my God, have mercy and let it be understood by her

And not let go from my heart far

I thought to keep mime and not let my tongue raise voice

My message may appear to be my defense

And poor man’s voice is always unheard

And I resign myself with a heart heavy

Prayed God to give me riches

As only rich man’s love is honored

Moving. A poem of truth that is unbiased and passionate in its form.
