pain

pain of my longing heart when i could not meet my dear niece on her visit with her husband for first time

i remember your faltering steps

as a toddler

you made me run

to avoid a crash or a hit

 

i remember the games  played

fun i enjoyed

with you as a growing child

 

i remember the fear and hope

i cherished about you

as you  turned adult

 

i remember the prayers i offered

for your career &  life and the praises i offered

to God when he answered

 

i remember the joyous moments

i endured when my ears listened

as you pronounce wedding vows

 

but my dear one

all those joys could not help

to surpass the pain

i suffered

when i could not meet you on your visit as a couple

This is a really lovely poem and conveys a great sense of the importance of family connections. It's a shame we cannot be in two places at once, sometimes, if only life would allow it! I agree with your previous reviewer about using "u" instead of "you". It seems a little out of place, but fortunately does nothing to detract from the sensitivity of this piece of writing.
Well done, I look forward to reading more.
