Eyes of a Silverback.

Eyes of a Silverback.

A Story by realmwriter
"

I saw a picture in a magazine of a Silverback gorilla and this is what I saw in his eyes.

"
Are we so arrogant to think that they aren't looking back at us with the same since of awe, amazement and wonder with which we look at them?

I see an intelligence in those eyes that, at least from my perspective, reaches far beyond our own. Greater in many ways, simply because of the lack of a higher brain function.

They look at us and wonder what we are and what we are doing and it seems to me as if they know, as if we are the ignorant ones.

I see a since of understanding that we simply cannot grasp, a tool that they have mastered the use of and continues to elude us. In many ways, an opinion gleaned only from staring into their eyes, they are the greater of the two entirely unique, yet completely similar species.

We try at every turn to destroy each other and though rivalries between them do exist, they live in near perfect harmony with each other and the earth. We take with little regard to the damage that we do, they regard everything before they take anything. And somehow we think them more ignorant than ourselves?

We have very little knowledge of just how intelligent they actually are. Yet to me it seems as if they know more about us than we think them capable. We regard them as a violent species, yet we are by far, more violent than they have ever been.

No, they are not the ignorant ones nor are they the least dominant. We, with all of out higher brain function and our ability to speak think ourselves the more dominant species yet we are fools in an infantile state of being.

We have much to learn about ourselves and it would behoove us greatly to look to our close cousins and the primate world to learn as much about ourselves as we can. They are the ones who have in under control. We have no since of what real peace means.

Look into the eyes of a silver back gorilla and tell me what you see there. I see a tranquility than we can never hope to posses.

Oh so very true that it makes me wonder about either side of the spectrum ever being what we once first thought of it to be.
